Goa is India’s smallest state by area and the fourth smallest by population. It is located in Konkan which is in West region of India.Goa is one of the exciting place in India. It is surrounded by Maharashtra to the north.Vasco da Gama is the largest city and Panaji is the state’s capital of Goa. Large numbers of international tourists comes to Goa each year.
1. Fontainhas
Fontainhas is the heritage constituency of the capital city of Panaji. It has been describe as India’s only Latin quarter. Latin quarter has a totally different atmosphere from the hustle and bustle of the main city. In the late eighteenth century the area is laid out on restricted land. At the base of a hillside the entire area is laid out known as Altinho, and the natural springs on the hillside, gave the name Fontainhas to the area.
2. Goa State Museum
It is maintained and managed by Government of Goa.it has long historical and cultural tradition. It was inaugurated in 1977 at St.Inez, Panaji. Goa State Museum, has in its ownership and quite large collection, which is increasing day by day.
3. Chapora Fort
It is an fort in North Goa, located 10 km away from Mapusa. Chapora Fort was built by the Portuguese in 1617. It offers superb views of Vagator beach and overlook the Arabian Sea from all angles.Chapora Fort is situated in Bardez. This fort was got noticed in the famous bollywood movie Dil Chahta Hai.
4. Dudhsagar Falls
It is the highest water falls in India. It is located in the southern part of Goa. the waterfall appears like streams of milk rushing down the mountainside from a distance. The sparkling and amazing waterfall is located in the Sanguem taluka. Dudhsagar Waterfalls,is at the height of 2,000 feet . It means “sea of milk” and the name comes from the white foam created from the force of the water. you can swim in the waters beneath it. For tourist it’s a very spectacular place to visit in Goa.
5. Galgibaga Beach
This is a beach is also known for the turtle nesting. It occurs every year here. This beach is quite long. It is one of the most peaceful and cleanest beach in goa. Very dense trees are found here in line right next to the beach, it makes up for a heavy shade line so u can sit in the shade of in the sun. Galgibaga Beach is absolute heaven on earth. It is the most remote and prettiest beaches in Goa and its 16 kilometres from Chaudi.
6. Basilica de Bom Jesus
The Basilica of Bom Jesus is also known as Borea Jezuchi Bajilik. It is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. It is situated in Old Goa. Basilica de Bom Jesus is an exceptional example of Baroque architecture The foundation was started on 24th November 1594, and it was completed on 15th May 1605.The mortal remains of the missionary Saint Francis Xavier is most important attraction here.It is one of the important destination for Christian pilgrims from all over the world.
7. Paliem Lake
It is well known amongst tourist for its sweet water lake.Paliem Lake is very clean and definitely one of the best places in Goa. The main attration of Paliem is swimming in the sweet water lake. The lake is situated in 15 minutes from Arambol Beach. Paliem Lake is especially interesting at night, in the moonlight.
